Marion County Athletes Compete at North Shelby Relays

Marion County athletes earned several top finishes at the North Shelby Relays on April 29 at North Shelby High School in Shelbyville.
Ella Dougherty led the Marion County girls with a first-place finish in the 1,600-meter run, winning the event in 6:30.44. She also placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:57.76 and sixth in the shot put at 6.15 meters.
Matty Cunningham added a runner-up finish in the 1,600-meter run, placing second in 6:52.78. Kennedy Hathaway also turned in a strong day, placing second in the 100-meter hurdles in 18.31, third in the javelin at 28.51 meters and fifth in the triple jump at 9.29 meters.
Julia Wood added a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 31.71, while the Lady Mustangs’ 4×100-meter relay team placed second in 59.51.
On the boys side, Averi Williams led Marion County with a pair of top-three sprint
finishes. Williams placed second in the 100-meter dash in 12.01 and third in the 200-meter dash in 25.21. Josh Kelso placed fourth in the shot put at 9.93 meters and seventh in the discus at 23.75 meters.
