Marion County’s Hathaway punches sectional ticket in javelin at Class 1 District 3 meet
GLASGOW, Mo. — Marion County’s Kennedy Hathaway led the Mustangs at
the MSHSAA Class 1 District 3 track and field meet Saturday, May 9, at Glasgow High School, earning a sectional berth with a fourth-place finish in
the girls javelin.
Hathaway threw 31.94 meters to claim the final qualifying spot in the event. The top four finishers in each event advanced to sectionals next weekend.
Hathaway narrowly missed another sectional qualification in the 100-meter
hurdles, placing fifth in 17.98 seconds. She also finished sixth in the triple jump with a mark of 9.67 meters, giving Marion County one of its strongest
all-around individual performances of the district meet.
Ella Dougherty also came close to advancing, placing fifth in the girls
1,600-meter run in 6:25.66. Dougherty added a 12th-place finish in the 800-meter run in 2:56.83.
On the boys side, Averi Williams turned in Marion County’s top finishes on the track. Williams placed sixth in the 200-meter dash in 25.03 seconds, seventh in the 100-meter dash in 11.93 and 12th in the 400-meter dash in 57.85.
Marion County athletes competed across sprint, distance, hurdle, jump and throwing events at the district meet.
