Fields named Area 8 Recruit Sustainment coordinator
MACON – Sgt. Cody Fields, 22, of Macon, was recently named the Area 8 Recruit Sustainment Program coordinator for the Missouri National Guard.
As the RSP coordinator, Fields will train new recruits before they go into basic training, as well process their payroll and ensure the Soldiers ship to training.
Fields has been in the National Guard for five years and graduated from New Cambria High School. Prior to being named RSP coordinator, he served as a recruiter for the National Guard.
“I believe this will be a pretty big change, while I understand a lot of the paper work process and a few other things, I think this will be a good learning experience,” Fields said.
Fields grew up in Macon and he and his wife, Brenda, currently reside in Macon. They have a son, Linden, who is 11-months-old.
Fields said he joined the National Guard because his cousin is a recruiter and that he encouraged him to join. When one of his friends joined the National Guard, Fields decided to enlist as well.
“I’ve helped with the program for the last two and a half years and thought it would be a good way to gain more experience,” Fields said.
Fields will be located at the Colonel Blees Armory in Macon.
