Submitted by Tenille Banner, Superintendent

GREEN CITY — Jamie Halley, a third grade teacher at Green City R-1 School District, has been selected as the MSTA Northeast Region Elementary Educator of the Year. She was recognized during the regional banquet hosted in Macon on Thursday, April 30.

Mrs. Halley was nominated for the honor by the Green City R-1 CTA and advanced through a competitive selection process that included interviews against multiple candidates from across the northeast region before earning the recognition.

Known for creating an engaging and interactive classroom environment, Mrs. Halley focuses on connecting classroom learning to real-world experiences for her students. Throughout the school year, she has welcomed a variety of guest speakers and community members into her classroom to enhance student learning. This year alone, students have had the opportunity to learn from a meteorologist, members of a local bank, and Mrs. Halley took her students to tour the local hospital as part of their classroom experiences.

These hands-on learning opportunities help build a high level of student engagement while allowing students to see meaningful connections between their studies and the world around them. Mrs. Halley’s dedication to innovative instruction and student-centered learning continues to make a positive impact on her students and the Green City R-1 community.
