Clark County Battles Back Early, Falls to Quincy B Despite Hitting Edge
The Clark County Indians showed fight at the plate but couldn’t overcome an early deficit in an 8-5 loss to Quincy B on April 23.
Clark County matched Quincy B with timely hitting and actually outhit their opponent eight to five, but defensive miscues and a big first inning by Quincy proved too much to overcome.
Quincy B struck quickly in the top of the first, using a two-run home run and a two-run double to build a 4-0 lead before the Indians had an answer.
Clark County responded immediately. Mason Davidson singled to drive in the first run, and the Indians kept the pressure on with patience at the plate. Walks by Grady Webster, G Holsted and Jaxon Noble, along with a base hit by Ronan Anderson, helped Clark County tie the game at 4-4 by the end of the first inning.
The game turned in the second. Quincy B capitalized on an error and several walks to push across two runs and regain the lead at 6-4. They added two more in the third inning to stretch the margin to 8-4.
Clark County continued to compete, adding a run in the bottom of the third on a fielder’s choice, but couldn’t close the gap late.
Corrick Hunziker led the Indians at the plate with three hits, while Davidson added two hits and Anderson drove in a run as part of the first-inning rally. The Indians also showed discipline, drawing seven walks, with Amos Phillips and Noble leading the way.
On the mound, Grady Webster took the start, allowing six runs—just two earned—over two innings while striking out three. Anderson provided steady relief, going five innings and allowing two runs on two hits while striking out three.
Clark County had chances late, putting runners on base in multiple innings, but Quincy B’s defense held firm to secure the win.
Despite the loss, the Indians showed offensive balance and resilience, answering early adversity and keeping pressure on throughout the game.
