Late Tuesday afternoon, December 11, 2012, The Edina Sentinel received reports of a shooting in the southwest corner of Knox County involving two Knox County men, who are said to have been  involved in an ongoing property dispute.

It has been alleged that Glenn Head of Novelty shot Bill Bacon, also of Novelty, in the chest.

The incident is alleged to have occurred at approximately 3:12 p.m.

There has been no official confirmation that Head shot Bacon, though Head is currently in the custody of the Adair County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

And, the Knox County Coroner, Jeff Doss, has confirmed that Bill Bacon has been pronounced dead in the emergency room of the Kirksville Regional Medical Center. The cause of death has not been released.

When asked if he could confirm or deny the report of a shooting, Knox County Sheriff Mike Kite responded, “No comment. The division of Drug and Crime Control are investigating and handling the release of information.”

Missouri State Highway Patrol’s DDCC investigator, Amanda Sapp, was contacted on the scene of the alleged incident and would not confirm or deny a shooting occurred, but would confirm that DDCC is assisting the Knox County Sheriff’s Office on an investigation, but would not discuss the details of that investigation.

According to a MSHP representative, more information will be released about the investigation Wednesday morning by MSHP.
