ALLEGATIONS: Schuyler County Sheriff Took Inmates To Knox and Sullivan County Bars, Used Them For Labor at Home, and Told Staff Not To Cooperate With MSHP Investigation

Schuyler County Sheriff Josh Dole remains in the Clark County Jail, following his arrest on Wednesday, July 9, on five felony charges.  Dole is charged with two charges of witness tampering and three counts of permitting escape.

On Thursday, July 10, Dole was arraigned in Schulyer County, before Clark County Judge Rick Roberts, who was appointed by Judge Gary Dial to hear the case.

A request for bond reduction was denied by the court, citing Dole’s conduct as raising a public safety issue.  A preliminary hearing was set for July 21, and Dole will remain in the Clark County jail with a $50,000 cash only bond.

The Probable Cause Statement filed by the Missouri Highway Patrol alleges that in March, 2014, Sheriff Dole removed prisoners from the Schuyler County Jail, and took them by private vehicle to a bar in Knox County. Five citizen informants corroborate the allegation.

The Statement further alleges that on or about April 27, 2014, Dole removed an inmate from the Schuyler County Jail, and transported the inmate to a bar in Sullivan County.

It was also learned that Done removed two inmates on two occasions to perform work at his residence in Schuyler County.

The investigation also alleges Dole instructed personnel under his command not to reveal facts pertaining to the investigation to Missouri State Highway Patrol, Division of Drug and Crime Control Investigators.
