Culver-Stockton Theatre Camp to stage Alice in Wonderland

CANTON, MO – The Canton Area Arts Council and Culver-Stockton College will co-sponsor a summer drama camp for area youth – Staging Alice in Wonderland – from July 30 through August 11.

The two-week camp is open for youth who will be entering the 2nd  through 9th grades.  It will be held from 2-5 pm, Mondays through Fridays at the Mabee Little Theatre on the campus of Culver-Stockton College.  At the end of camp, campers will stage the play Alice in Wonderland.  Students also will create the sets and costumes for the production.

Two public performances of Alice in Wonderland are scheduled: Friday August 10 at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday August 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Mabee Little Theatre.

The camp will be under the direction of Jeff Kellogg, senior lecturer of theatre, who has directed more than 25 youth theatre productions.  He has served as the artistic director for Prairie Players Youth Theatre, and Buchanan Arts Center Youth Performing Company in Illinois, as well being co-founder of Takoja (Grandchildren) Theatre on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation of South Dakota.
