The State Emergency Management Agency will accept Missouri Citizen Corps Program/Council (CCP) grant applications until 5 p.m. July 13, 2007. The FY 2006 CCP Application is on SEMA’s website (www.sema.dps.mo.gov/terrorism.htm). Missouri currently has 85 registered Citizen Corp Programs/Councils.

A University of Missouri Extension program is trying to help communities overcome this growing problem by promoting entrepreneurship. Brookfield, a town of 5,000 people, is one of five communities chosen to be part of the pilot program called exCEED, Extension Community Economic and Entrepreneurial Development.

Jerad Harness, of Warsaw, Illinois was the winner of the 2007 KICK-FM Colgate Country Showdown held Saturday, June 16th, at Upper Moorman Park in Quincy, IL. Harness performed in front of a crowd of nearly 2000 enthusiastic country music fans. The popular Tri-State entertainers “Mad Hoss Jackson” also performed and served as back-up band for the contestants.
