Young entrepreneur runs small-town business

BROOKFIELD, Mo. – Rural communities in Missouri are losing their young talent to big cities at a rapid rate. A University of Missouri Extension program is trying to help communities overcome this growing problem by promoting entrepreneurship. Brookfield, a town of 5,000 people, is one of five communities chosen to be part of the pilot program called exCEED, Extension Community Economic and Entrepreneurial Development.

Jerad Harness Wins KICK-FM Colgate Country Showdown

Jerad Harness, of Warsaw, Illinois was the winner of the 2007 KICK-FM Colgate Country Showdown held Saturday, June 16th, at Upper Moorman Park in Quincy, IL.  Harness performed in front of a crowd of nearly 2000 enthusiastic country music fans. The popular Tri-State entertainers “Mad Hoss Jackson” also performed and served as back-up band for the contestants.
