U.S. News & World Report Lists Truman as No. 1 Public University-Master’s Category & Highlights Truman’s Undergraduate Research Program

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Truman State University has been recognized, once again, as the No. 1 Public University in the Midwest Region–Master’s Category by U.S. News & World Report’s 2008 edition of "America’s Best Colleges." Taking home feature wins in there respective divisions were Michael Long (USRA Modifieds), Matt Greiner (USRA Stock Cars), Wyatt Lantz (USRA B-Modifieds), Jason McDaniel (USRA Hobby Stocks), Jeff Soper (Outlaw Hobby Stocks), Lew Aikman (Hornets) and Chad Huston (Mid-America 305 Sprints).

MATHER TAKES CHECKERS IN TWO CLASSES WITH PORTER, SCHROEDER, MCDANIEL AND HUSTON REMAINING CHECKERS

(Bloomfield, Iowa) August 17th The month of August is almost gone and the racing season is coming to a end for the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway with the season championships being decided next week August 24th. The action at the Bloomfield Speedway has been the most exciting racing in southeast Iowa with three and four wide action in all five weekly classes. With the Casey’s General Store USRA Weekly Racing Series along with another visit from the Mid-America 305 Winged Sprint Car Series with a total of 75 cars in the pit area.

STEWART, PORTER, WALKER, SCHROEDER AND RACHELS TAKES MOUNTAIN-DEW BLOOMFIELD CHECKERS

Racing action at the Mountain-Dew Bloomfield Speedway was as hot as the temps for the second straight week in August. Sponsored by Slayton Polaris of Downing, Mo. and kids getting a chance at winning some cool prizes from R L Promotions on back to school night. The Casey’s General Stores USRA Weekly Racing Series always thrills the crowd with two and three wide racing at the semi-banked 3/8 mile speedway. The first feature of the night was the USRA hobby stock division with Jim Walker of Mystic holding off Jason McDaniel of Eldon who tried several times to take the top spot but settled for the runner-up spot with Walker adding to his point lead. Mike Shelton of Ottumwa and Don Nunnikhoven of Sully battled for third with Shelton taking third and Nunnikhoven taking the fourth spot. After the feature Shannon Sample of Milton claimed the carburetor from Nunnikhoven and he did sell.

Lady Eagle Softball 2007 Season Preview

Knox County will continue their high school softball rebuilding process with five returning starters from their four win 2006 varsity campaign. Stephanie Crawford was promoted to the head varsity coaching position from her assistant coaching job. Crawford replaces Kenny Jett, who resigned after one year at Knox County. Jett is currently the head girls’ basketball coach at Madison, Mo.

Jon Tesch (USMTS Modifieds), Tom Schmitt (USRA Stock Cars), Wyatt Lantz (USRA B-Modifieds), Bill Gibson (USRA Hobby Stocks), Jake Wenig (Outlaw Hobby Stocks), Lew Aikman (Hornets) and Dennis Schulte (Pro Hornets) topped the features in there respective divisions.
