Adding The Personal Touch

First year Knox County R-I teacher and coach John Weaver recently participated in Knox County’s middle school football camp. Weaver has been helping lead Eagle athletes in off season conditioning since moving back to the area from Olathe, Kansas. Coach Weaver shared some of what his background as a championship level athlete and his work as a personal fitness trainer can bring to the Eagle program.

Lady Hawks Add Irby, Finalize Roster

The Quincy University women’s basketball team has announced the addition of Whintae Irby, a 5-6 guard, finalizing the Lady Hawks roster for the 2007-08 season. Irby joins the Lady Hawks after one season at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock.

Fraise Breaks Long’s Winning Streak at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway

One streak came to an end, while another was extended on Primerose Realty and Kay Eggleston Bookkeeping Night at the Pepsi Scotland County Speedway. Tony Fraise (USRA Modifieds) snapped Michael Long’s winning streak, while Wyatt Lantz (USRA B-Modifieds) added to his winning streak on Saturday night. Also claiming wins was Zack VanderBeek (USRA Stock Cars), Jason McDaniel (USRA Hobby Stocks), Brandon Symmonds (Outlaw Hobby Stocks) and CJ Loring (Hornets).

   Illinois took advantage of porous Missouri defense, scoring single tallies in the fifth and sixth innings of the Fourth Annual Illinois vs. Missouri KHQA Senior Softball Salute, held July 8 at Quincy. Illinois won the first half of a twin bill by a 5-3 score.
