  Knox County High School graduate Katie McMahon recently became only the fifth player in Columbia College school history to be named to the NAIA Women’s Softball Honorable Mention All-American Team.

Clark County’s Courtney Shuman and Calem Lipper added another honor to their list last Monday night.  The pair were selected as the 2007 Outstanding Senior Athletes during Athletic Awards Program, which recognized athletes who participated in basketball, track, golf and cheerleading.

Roger Morse raced into the MSHSAA record books, winning the Class 2 boys’ 3200 meter run in a personal best 9:46.94 seconds. The Highland senior brought home a medal in the Class 2 boys’ 1600 meter event in another personal best time of 4:28 seconds.

   The 3200 meter gold medal was Highland’s first boys’ state track top finish since Jerrill Humphrey won the triple jump event in 2002.

   Clark County senior Courtney Shuman stretched for her third preliminary triple jump attempt as the opening ceremonies of the MSHSAA Class 1-2 Track Championships were going on. A recent Olympic theme was playing on the Dwight T. Reed Stadium sound system.

 Katie Ausmus was about four feet shy of a Class 1 bronze medal in the 2007 girls’ 3200 meters, and won the second fourth place state track medal in Knox County High School history at the May 18-19 MSHSAA Track Championships, held at Jefferson City.
